Originally posted as "20th Century Women", it is corrected to be "Singing' in the Rain"
After “La La Land", we picked the film that launched Hollywood musicals & is still considered the best of its genre. Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds & Donald O'Connor star in a spectacular production filled with memorable songs, lavish routines & the fabulous song-&-dance number in the rain.
Set during the advent of "talkies," Don Lockwood has risen to stardom during Hollywood's silent-movie era - paired with the beautiful, jealous & dumb Lina Lamont. When Lockwood becomes attracted to young studio singer Kathy Selden, Lamont has her fired. But with the introduction of talking pictures, Lockwood finds his career in jeopardy after audiences laugh when they hear Lamont speak in her shrill voice for the first time, until the studio decides to use Selden to dub her voice.
Your $10 ticket gets you this fine film, a complimentary glass of wine & a pack of hankies. You bring the shoulder to cry on.

The Public Safety Committee typically meets on the fourth Thursday each month, starting at 10AM - the same as the second Council Meeting monthly. The Committee meets in the Conference Room at the Burke Day Public Safety Building. Minutes, agenda, and exhibits are posted in our WebLink archives, usually a few days before each meeting, under Clerk of Council > Boards / Committee Meetings > Public Safety Committee, then under the year, month and day of each meeting.
