(a) Promote beach preservation & maintenance
(b) Promote beach renourishment
(c) Promote prevention of shoreline erosion
(d) Serve as a consultant body on beach & shoreline issues
(e) Assist other entities in promoting the preservation of the ecology & natural beauty of Tybee Island
(f) Report on Task recommendations to the Mayor & Council.
(g) Perform other, related duties as may be directed by the Mayor & Council or City Manager
(h) Lobby state & federal entities on behalf of Tybee's beaches.

Enjoy an introduction to the amazing lives of sea turtles in our hour-long Turtle Talk. Learn about anatomy and natural adaptations of sea turtles and discuss Tybee’s Sea Turtle Project conservation efforts. Based on program content, Turtle Talks are recommended for kids ages 6 and up.

Join one of our knowledgeable marine science educators on an hour-long, guided walk of Tybee’s south beach. Learn about the dynamics of Georgia’s barrier islands, the importance of the intertidal zone, the forces behind the waves, Tybee’s unique tidal surge, and the role that sand dunes perform in keeping Tybee protected.

Join us for an hour-long marsh trek, where you’ll enjoy a hands-on exploration of Georgia’s salt marsh, searching the mud for fiddler crabs, snails, and more. Learn about adaptations necessary for survival in this environment, how the marsh functions as a nursery for many organisms, a filter for pollutants, and as an abundant food source. Please wear closed-toed, closed-heel shoes, such as rain boots or old tennis shoes (no flip flops or Crocs) and expect to get muddy. Marsh Treks meet off-site, on the north end of the island at Spanish Hammock. Directions are emailed with paid program confirmation.
