Baby, it’s hot out there! So, we thought we’d keep it steamy here inside the Post! Our Girls’ Night Out film is a 60th anniversary revival of the white hot Paul Newman classic, “The Long, Hot Summer.”
You know the story. Newman, who won the Best Actor Oscar for his role as the handsome vagabond Ben Quick, returns to the Mississippi town his late father called home, but rumors of his dad's pyromaniac tendencies follow him as soon as he sets foot there. But he quickly wins over civic leader Will Varner (Orson Welles), who decides Ben might be just the man for his daughter, Clara (Joanne Woodward) -- much to the displeasure of Will's gutless son (Anthony Franciosa) and Clara's society boyfriend (Richard Anderson).
It’s an unbelieveable cast and lots of sweat and sexual tension. Enjoy, gals!
And don’t forget about our Dinner & A Movie option, which gets you a three-course prix-fixe dinner at 80 East Gastropub before the movie!

On a marsh trek, you’ll enjoy a hands-on exploration of Georgia’s salt marsh, searching the mud for fiddler crabs, snails, and more. Learn about adaptations necessary for survival in this environment, how the marsh functions as a nursery for many organisms, a filter for pollutants, and as an abundant food source. Please wear closed-toed, closed-heel shoes, such as rain boots or old tennis shoes (no flip flops or Crocs) and expect to get muddy. Marsh Treks meet off-site from the science center, on the north end of the island at Spanish Hammock. Directions are provided with paid program confirmation.
