    We've got last December's mega-hit, "Star Wars: The Last Jedi," for our Summer's Family Friendly Movie Series. If you missed it the first time, or want to see it one more time on the big screen, here's your chance! Many critics say it's the best of the series! Luke Skywalker's peaceful and solitary existence gets upended when he encounters Rey, a young woman who shows strong signs of the Force. Her desire to learn the ways of the Jedi forces Luke to make a decision that changes their lives forever. Meanwhile, Kylo Ren and General Hux lead the First Order in an all-out assault against Leia and the Resistance for supremacy of the galaxy.

  1. Sift 'n' Seine Program

    June 28, 2018, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

    On a sift 'n' seine program, you’ll discover the marine life of the intertidal zone by pulling a 10 foot seine net through waist-deep water. Commonly caught organisms include pompanos, sea jellies, and crabs. After seining, we’ll explore the marine life of the sandy bottom by sifting various organisms from the wet sand on the beach. This program is recommended for participants nine years and older.

  2. South Beach Walks

    South beach walks depart from the science center where you’ll join one of our knowledgeable marine science educators on a guided walk of Tybee’s south beach. Learn about the dynamics of Georgia’s barrier islands, the importance of the intertidal zone, the forces behind the waves, Tybee’s unique tidal surge, and the role that sand dunes perform in keeping Tybee protected.

  3. Turtle Talks

    During our Turtle Talk, you’ll learn about anatomy and natural adaptations of sea turtles, discuss Tybee’s Sea Turtle Project conservation efforts, and meet our resident loggerhead sea turtle, Matthew. Based on program content, Turtle Talks are recommended for kids ages six and up.

  4. Marsh Trek

    June 28, 2018, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

    On a marsh trek, you’ll enjoy a hands-on exploration of Georgia’s salt marsh, searching the mud for fiddler crabs, snails, and more. Learn about adaptations necessary for survival in this environment, how the marsh functions as a nursery for many organisms, a filter for pollutants, and as an abundant food source. Please wear closed-toed, closed-heel shoes, such as rain boots or old tennis shoes (no flip flops or Crocs) and expect to get muddy. Marsh Treks meet off-site from the science center, on the north end of the island at Spanish Hammock. Directions are provided with paid program confirmation.

Public Safety Committee

    June 28, 2018, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM @ Conference Room

    In months where there is only one Council meeting (during some summer months as well as for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays), other times will be announced when known. The Public Safety Committee usually meets the fourth Thursday of each month in the conference room at the Public Safety Building at 78 Van Horn, at 10:00 AM. The Committee may also meet at other times as conditions dictate. Agenda are usually available within 24 hours preceding the meeting and will be posted in the WebLink archives when available.
