  1. Independence Day Fireworks Celebration

July 4, 2018, 9:00 PM - July 5, 2018, 9:45 PM @ Tybee's Walter Parker Pier and Pavilion at the end of Tybrisa

Visible from nearly everywhere on Tybee, the fireworks show delights visitors every year! You will not be disappointed! Be aware that after the fireworks, departure from the island is a long and arduous process. Because of all the traffic departing at once, delays add up to several hours to get to Bull River, so be prepared to relax! We recommend some time at one of the island's restaurants, or even stay the night, although if you don't have reservations by now, you'll be out of luck! Patience is important! Don't drive drunk! Be sure NOT to use your phone due to the new distracted driving law in Georgia.

  4. Marsh Trek

    July 5, 2018, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

On a marsh trek, you’ll enjoy a hands-on exploration of Georgia’s salt marsh, searching the mud for fiddler crabs, snails, and more. Learn about adaptations necessary for survival in this environment, how the marsh functions as a nursery for many organisms, a filter for pollutants, and as an abundant food source. Please wear closed-toed, closed-heel shoes, such as rain boots or old tennis shoes (no flip flops or Crocs) and expect to get muddy. Marsh Treks meet off-site from the science center, on the north end of the island at Spanish Hammock. Directions are provided with paid program confirmation.
