Boil Water Advisory
Coastal Flood Advisory in Effect
The first Wednesday of each month, there is a scheduled test of the emergency alert siren systems. The sirens will wail for about a minute, followed by additional testing by Chatham County's Emergency Management. This testing is silent, however, so the "This is only a test" announcement will be delayed after the test by about a half hour. The siren test will be cancelled if the weather is bad enough to make it even remotely possibly that a real emergency might be announced. Also, testing is sometimes rescheduled for different days or times to coordinate with state-wide or national emergency alert systems testing.
Tornado Watches or Warnings
Tropical Depression 9 has sustained winds of 35mph, moving WNW at 14mph. Sustained winds are approximately 1400 miles SSE of Chatham County.
Water Main Break
The Water Department is currently fixing a large water main break by 1007 Bay Street. Water will need to be turned off while the leak is fixed. The water outage may effect properties on Bay Street, Polk Street, USH 80, and properties north of Bay Street.
