[ARCHIVED] Tybee Island Councilman Jackson Butler to Resign for Family Reasons

Mayor Jason Buelterman made the following statement regarding Councilman Butler's resignation:

"Councilman Jackson Butler has submitted a letter of resignation from Tybee City Council effective September 13. I would like to thank Jackson, on behalf of our City Council, staff and the entire Tybee community for his hard work and express our regret that he will be stepping down. Councilman Butler has been a pleasure to work with and will be sorely missed. He is resigning due to circumstances surrounding the health and well being of his family. He came to this decision after much thoughtful deliberation but in the end made a decision that speaks to his integrity as a person and compassion as a son.

"We wish Jackson and his family the very best. He will remain in office until September 30.

"Our City Council will be working with our City Attorney to develop a plan for filing Jackson’s term to ensure an open and transparent process for this important decision."
