[ARCHIVED] PUBLIC NOTICE: Wind Retrofit Project

                                                                PUBLIC NOTICE

The City of Tybee Island, Georgia has submitted an application for a wind retrofit project funded by FEMA under the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program.  The project will affect historic and non historic properties that are located in the floodplain.  The project will be in the following neighborhoods:

  City Hall, 403 Butler Avenue, Tybee Island, GA 31328

            Old School Building, 204 5th St. Tybee Island, GA 31328

            YMCA Building, 204 C 5th St., Tybee Island, GA 31328

            Cafeteria Building, 204 5th St. Tybee Island, GA 31328

            Fire Department, 512 Jones St. Tybee Island, GA 31328

            Gymnasium, 202 5th St., Tybee Island, GA 31328

            Marine Science Center, 1607 Strand Ave., Tybee Island, GA 31328

            Police Department, 78 Van Horn St., Tybee Island, GA 31328

            Campground Office\Retail Store, 5 Fort St., Tybee Island, GA 31328

            Campground House, 5 Fort St., Tybee Island, GA 31328

            Water & Sewer Office\Operations, 923 Bay St., Tybee Island, GA 31328

            Guard House, 31 Van Horn St., Tybee Island, GA 31328


Presidential Executive Orders 11988 and 11990 and the National Historic Preservation Act required that all federal actions in or affecting the floodplain or wetlands and historic properties be reviewed for opportunities to relocate, and evaluated for social, economic, historical, environmental, legal and safety considerations.  The public is invited to participate in the process of identifying alternatives and analyzing their impacts.  Any adverse effects to historic properties as a result of this undertaking will be mitigated.

Interested persons may obtain information about these actions or a specific project by contacting the Director of Finance and General Administration, the Project Coordinator by email at ahudson@cityoftybee.org or by calling (912) 472-5021.  Comments should be received within 30 days of the date of this notice, November 15, 2018.
