We are very pleased to announce that EarthBalance, the vegetation management firm that completed the City’s Phase 1 Dune Vegetation earlier this year from the Pier to 19th Street, has been selected for Phase 2. We are fortunate to have this well-regarded firm work on our behalf again.
EarthBalance will execute this Phase 2 project much as they did Phase 1. A crew of about eight will work from 7am to 6pm every day beginning Monday, April 27 and continuing until approximately Friday, May 8th. They will be accessing the beach and staging their equipment at 19th Street, 3rd Street, and Gulick.
EarthBalance will be planting at these locations:
- seaward side of the dunes from Chatham Avenue to 16th Street
- entire new dune from Center Street to Eastgate
- newly stabilized dune at Gulick Street
EarthBalance employees are classified as Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers as identified by the Department of Homeland Security and are covered by Governor Kemp’s Executive Order of April 2, 2020.
All EarthBalance personnel are required to act within the CDC guidelines for social distancing and hand washing. The company’s other safety measures include employees working outside far apart from one another; not entering facilities or buildings; and thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing equipment throughout the day.
We look forward to completing our dune restoration with this vegetation.
