[ARCHIVED] Elsa Storm Update for 7-7-21

Weather Announcement-7-7-21

July 7, 2020 - Elsa remains a Tropical Storm as of the 8 AM update from the National Hurricane Center. 

Chatham County, including Tybee Island, is currently under a Tropical Storm Warning. Conditions are expected to begin deteriorating around mid-day today, with the most significant impacts beginning between 6 - 7 PM. The storm should clear our area early Thursday by 5 AM.

Estimated sustained winds during this time are 40 MPH, with gusts as high as 50 MPH. The forecast calls for 2-3 inches of rain, with no likely associated surge or road flooding. 

The City of Tybee Island will maintain normal operations today and continue to provide 911 services throughout the night. Please take time to make necessary precautions, including securing all loose items and debris. As always, stay tuned to local media for the latest information.
