Human Resources supports the City of Tybee Island by recruiting, developing, and retaining a skilled and dedicated workforce. The department manages employee benefits, hiring, onboarding, records, discipline, and compliance with personnel policies and ethics standards.

  • Oversees recruitment and hiring of all new employees;
  • Management of employee on-boarding process;
  • Management of all employee discipline cases;
  • Employee record maintenance;
  • Oversees employee termination and ethics violations

The E-Verify Employment Eligibility Verification Program (EEV) involves verification checks on the Social Security Administration (SSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) databases, using an automated system to verify the employment authorization of all newly hired employees, regardless of citizenship, after completion of the Employment Eligibility Verification From (Form I-9). The City of Tybee Island has been complying with E-Verify since December 2007.
